Five class eight pupils drowned at a man-made dam in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu, Kenya, while preparing for exams. The pupils and their teachers were at Amazement park for a boat ride when the dam capsized. Only one student, a sixth-grade student, survived.

The victims were taken to Burnt Forest Sub County Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention. The bodies were later moved to the MTRH morgue. Angry parents stormed the school, seeking information on their kin’s whereabouts. Tensions in the area remained high, prompting an emergency meeting for the sub-county security committee.

Officers are seeking ways to inform parents. The Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) and Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) will run from October 30 to November 24, with approximately 1.4 million KCPE candidates and 1.2 million KAPSEA candidates.
